Although life can get us down sometimes and we may forget, there are so many things in our lives that we have to be grateful for. Just think about the things that you might take for granted every day: having a roof over your head, having meals on the table, and having people that love you.
It’s easy to get caught up in negative thought patterns and focus on the bad in our lives instead of the good. That’s where gratitude affirmations and gratitude meditation come in.
Using gratitude affirmations and gratitude meditation is a way to actively practice gratitude, boost positivity, and continue on your self-discovery journey. We’re here to help you learn how to use gratitude affirmations and gratitude meditation to change your life.
As we mentioned, it’s easy to get caught up on the negative things in our life: how stressed we are about work, the pandemic, and things that we don’t have. But when you focus on the negatives, guess how you’re going to feel? Not good.
Using gratitude affirmations and gratitude meditation will help you rewire your brain. You’ll create new positive thought patterns that will help you feel happier and have a more positive outlook on life.
There are a few ways that you can practice gratitude, and one way to do so is by using gratitude affirmations. Affirmations are positive statements you say to yourself, typically starting with “I am.” They are said preferably out loud, but you can also say them in your head or write them down in a journal – or do a combination of all three. Experiment and see what feels the best for you.
The more you use affirmations, including gratitude affirmations, the more you will believe the statements. They will become ingrained in your brain, and the thoughts will become second nature. Your brain will be more likely to think these positive thoughts than negative ones.
Here are 20 gratitude affirmations that you can use any time of day to boost your mood, channel self-discovery, and feel happier.
You can use any or all of these gratitude affirmations to start your gratitude journey. Feel free to tweak them or elaborate on them to make them fit perfectly to your needs. Try creating a 30 day gratitude challenge where you commit to saying at least 10 gratitude affirmations per day for 30 days. We promise you’ll see a difference.
Another way that you can practice gratitude in your life is by doing a guided gratitude meditation by using a guided meditation script. A meditation script will lead the way for you to stay on track to meet your goals when it comes to your gratitude practice.
Here is a guided gratitude meditation script for you to use. We suggest using it as a guided morning meditation to start your day off on a positive note.
Find yourself in a seated position. Sit up straight and feel grounded through your seat. Make sure you are comfortable. When you’re all settled, close your eyes. This guided gratitude meditation script will help you infuse positivity, love, and light into your life. Now, begin to pay attention to your breath, and keep your focus on the breath. Take long, deep inhales through your nose, and slow, controlled exhales through your mouth. You can try breathing in for a count of four and breathing out for a count of four, if that helps you. Try to take the deepest breaths that you have taken all day. Now, try to release tension from your body. Imagine the tension melting away from your body with every exhale, and relaxation flowing into your body with every inhale.
It’s time to focus on the positivity in your life. You have so much to be grateful for – ranging from the littlest things to the most important things in your life. Take a moment to name at least three things that you are grateful for. Imagine that you are filling up your body with extra gratitude as you breathe in. Send your love to these things you are grateful for. If your mind starts to wander, don’t worry. Don’t judge your thoughts. Simply bring your attention back to your breath and the feeling of gratitude. Continue to focus on the good things in your life that you are grateful for as you continue to take slow, deep breaths. Open your eyes and notice how good you feel. Take these feelings of love and positivity with you throughout your day, and remember that you can tap into gratitude anytime.
Get in the habit of incorporating gratitude affirmations and gratitude meditation to make positive changes in your life. You can mix these practices in with a walking meditation or loving kindness meditation – whatever works best for you.
